For a unique stay in Lisbon, welcome to your home in the heart of the city:  Castelo de São Jorge

The castle neighborhood is like a small Portuguese village nestled on the castle hill in the centre of the city.  The old walls have helped to keep this part of Portugal a little bit in the past.

Enjoy magnificent views from the castle gardens and crenelated walls overlooking Alfama, Mouraria and the Tejo estuary just outside our front door.

There is easy access by public transportation.

As the house is in one of the oldest parts of the city you will be pulled into a Lisbon that once was and still is, but with all the modern conveniences.  You can even get in the picture by hanging out your own laundry from the study window.  If you like, have a coffee at Sr. Daniel's just down the street, or stroll 10 minutes and be in Rossio, Lisbon's main square. All in all, feel as though you are a welcome part of our safe and friendly neighborhood.
The site of the house dates back to the iron age, about 2,500 years ago--pottery shards discovered under the left-front corner during recent re-cobbling of the road attest to this--but rest assured, the house itself has since been renovated and redecorated!  (See Inside).
The area is steeped in history from a possible visit by Ulysses, Phonecian settlements and Roman occupation to the Visigoths and Moors up through Modern times.
